Steel balls and rollers in the bearings of the water pump shaft

The steel balls and rollers of automobile water pump bearings are generally made of high chromium bearing steel, and the material of the shaft and outer ring of the automobile water pump shaft bearing is made of carburized steel or high chromium bearing steel. The hardness of the outer ring of the automobile water pump bearing is usually 60-64HRC, the hardness of the shaft made of high chromium bearing steel is usually 58-62HRC, the hardness of the steel ball and roller is 61-65HRC, and the shaft material is made of carburized bearing steel. The hardness of the raceway is usually 60-64HRC.

     So how to maintain the water pump bearing better? For newly put into use water pump bearings generally need to replace the lubricating oil (grease) after 100 hours of operation, and then every 500 hours. For fluid bearings lubricated with grease, after 1500 hours of operation, the grease can be replaced. Note that the amount of oil added should not be too much or too little to avoid heating of the bearing. The amount of oil added to the bearing is generally controlled at 1/2 of the volume of the bearing chamber* 2/3 is appropriate.

The oil volume of the water pump bearing should be added to the specified position. Pay attention to the container of lubricating oil or grease to be clean, and it should be sealed at ordinary times. There should be no dust, iron filings and other debris to avoid damage to the bearing. The water pump bearing should be installed under clean and dry environmental conditions. The processing quality of the mating surface of the shaft and the housing, the end surface of the shoulder, the groove and the connecting surface should be carefully checked before installation. When installing the water pump bearing, it should match the connection surface, and at the same time carefully clean and remove the burrs. The surface of the unprocessed casting must be cleaned with sand.

Roller bearing manufacturers remind you: When the water pump bearing is removed and needs to be used again, you should use an appropriate disassembly tool. The water pump bearing matches the ferrule during the disassembly process, and the tension is applied to the ferrule, and it cannot be transmitted through the rolling elements. Disassembly force, otherwise it is easy to crush the rolling elements and raceways.
